Wooden tea counter with ceramic bowls and tea canisters in Tampere

Dinghy Dummy Tea

A quiet cup on Hämeenkatu

Loose-leaf teas, careful water, and a soft seat in the centre of Tampere — for unhurried mornings and late afternoon steeping.

Process

From leaf to cup

We keep a short path between the tin and your table so aroma stays bright and timing stays honest.

  1. Choose the leaf

We help you match mood and time of day — green for clarity, oolong for length, herbal for an evening without caffeine.

  2. Warm the vessel

Pots and cups are rinsed with hot water so the first pour does not cool too quickly on porcelain.

  3. Measure and wait

Weights and timers sit beside the kettle. We prefer a calm clock over a rushed refill.

  4. Pour and pause

Tea arrives with a short note on steep time so you can enjoy a second round if the leaf allows it.

About the house

Why we opened on Hämeenkatu

Dinghy Dummy Tea began as a small idea: a Tampere tea house where the kettle is the loudest tool and conversation can stay soft. We chose a street-level room so people walking between the station and the square could step in without a reservation or a rush.

Our shelves hold greens, oolongs, black teas, and caffeine-free herbs sourced in small lots. We taste every tin before it reaches the board, and we rewrite steep notes when the harvest changes. The room is simple — wood, ceramic, and enough daylight to read a book without a lamp until late afternoon.

Whether you stay for one cup or take a tin home, we aim for the same standard: clear water, honest timing, and a welcome that does not hurry you out the door. Learn more on our About page, or check Steep Hours before you visit.
